Poll Analysis: YouGov MRP 25th of April – 5th of May 2026

Final day polling is coming thick and fast, none of it good for Labour. The probable best of the bunch for the SNP still has them short of a majority, but another strong result for the Greens.

Poll Analysis: YouGov MRP 23rd of March – 8th of April 2026

Scepticism about fancy MRP polling aside and just using their vote share figures, the SNP are within touching distance of a majority whilst the Conservatives are near-death.

Poll Analysis: YouGov (Scoop) 11th – 18th of February 2026

The worst poll of the term for both Labour and the Conservatives puts them both behind the Greens, who sit at the upper end of their recent polling trend.

Poll Analysis: YouGov 8th – 14th of January 2026

A perhaps eyebrow raisingly high Scottish Reform score from the pollster finding the lowest GB Reform results doesn’t change the fact this is term-worst poll for Labour, who are currently headed for a crushing loss.

Poll Analysis (Lite): YouGov 20th – 25th of June 2024

This is a lite analysis piece to ensure there is a record of this poll within the BBS archive, but without the full attention usually given to individual polls due to time pressures before the General Election.

Poll Analysis (Lite): YouGov 3rd – 7th of June 2024

This is a lite analysis piece to ensure a poll with delayed publication at a busy time before an election isn’t ignored entirely, but also doesn’t take up time that would be better spent working on other things.

Poll Analysis: YouGov 13th – 17th of May 2024

What is overall the best poll since BBS was established for Scottish Labour makes for grim reading for the SNP and Conservatives, whilst the Greens continue to vastly outperform against consistently flawed analysis of the party’s support base.

Poll Analysis: YouGov 26th – 29th of April 2024

In a highly comedic turn of events, a poll conducted at the height of Humza Yousaf’s final crisis-stricken days before resigning finds… statistically no change on the last poll, everything within margin of error. Ah, Scotland.

Poll Analysis: YouGov 25th of March – 2nd of April 2024

The first BBS-tracked poll in two months will be difficult reading for both the SNP and Conservatives, whilst giving Labour reasons to be cheerful, and suggesting some perhaps exaggeratedly high Reform UK shares.

Poll Analysis: YouGov 2nd – 6th of October 2023

After a run of stubborn SNP-Green majorities, YouGov finally join the rest of the polling pack with vote shares suggestive of a majority for the Pro-Union bloc.

For many LGBT folk like me, and especially trans folk, Keir Starmer will be remembered in the same way as Margaret Thatcher: with deep contempt for having overseen a deeply hostile, queerphobic government, which rolled back human rights and set society back by at least a decade.

    Good riddance.

By-Election Result: Arbroath and Broughty Ferry

The least exciting of the three by-elections that took place on Thursday, from a Scottish perspective it's the one closest to (but still not actually) a useful national barometer.

    By-Election Result analysis: Aberdeen South

A high profile move from Westminster to Holyrood leads to an absolutely huge loss for the SNP, as the Conservatives play a blinder of a tactical campaign.

As Conservative candidate and now MP, Douglas Lumsden, is also an MSP for the North East, he will have to resign from Holyrood within 49 days. That will bring in James Adams as his party replacement, as the only new Conservative MSP. This will also make Holyrood majority (65) new vs returning MSPs.
